This time we will optimize meta tags to improve search engine positioning. we will see in detail what is really interesting from an SEO point of view and then we will apply it to our blog.
What are meta tags? ( Meta Tags )
Meta tags are in the <head> section of our Blogger template and are used to provide extra information to search engines , if the search engine does not understand a certain meta tag, it simply ignores it. In this article we will discuss How To Add Keywords And Description Meta Tags To Blogger blog.
You may have seen them as meta tags , meta tags or meta tags , but they are the same . There is usually a lot of confusion with this type of labels, one of the main reasons is that they are not visually represented in any way in the browser, that is, we do not see them. However, the Google search engine does see them and some of them with a magnifying glass.
As you know, the algorithms and positioning criteria of Google change constantly and more and more frequently (Pinguin, Panda, …). This is how Google explains the evolution of its search engine, from its birth.
As the Google search engine has evolved, so has the use of meta tags . Almost at the beginning, the Meta Keywords label had a brutal importance, in fact if a website did not include it, it was not indexed in the search engine, this caused an abuse of it and has made it unimportant today. .
We could continue talking about the history of each of them, but we better focus on the labels that interest us for current SEO and explain how to use them in Blogger.
Important meta tags for SEO
It is used to provide a small description to the search engines, it is one of the most important. This description is what usually appears in the fragment of the search results.
It is recommended to write the description for all the entries you create on your blog. Keep in mind that it is the text that will be shown in the search results and that you should take advantage of it to draw attention to who reads it from there. In case you do not enter anything in this section, Blogger will take the first paragraph of the entry as a description.
<meta content = ‘Discover how to optimize titles to improve the positioning of your Blogger blog.’ name = ‘description’ />
Define how the page should be crawled and indexed. By default, search engines index all the content of a page (index, follow), if we want to change this behavior we can do it with this tag.
It is important for SEO, since it allows us to define areas of our blog that we do not want to be indexed. The most practical example is when we have some content duplicated or copied from a site (we already know that this is very bad for SEO), to avoid appearing in the search criteria just use this tag with the value noindex and if we do not want that the links are followed: nofollow .
<META name = “robots” content = “noindex, nofollow”>
It allows us to define the type and content, in addition to the character set. This meta tag does not directly influence the search results, although it should be configured correctly so that the characters used in our language are displayed.
<meta content = ‘text / html; charset = UTF-8 ‘http-equiv =’ Content-Type ‘/>
Google ignores it, we will do the same. As per the latest update from the Google it don’t care about the meta keywords because it cause the keyword stuffing. Now instead of keywords Google rank any blog or website on the basic of other factors.
